Garlands University
The Garlands’ University Programme is a new people development initiative designed to teach Garlands’ personnel the knowledge and skills needed to become Garlands’ Managers.
Several courses are run each year for employees looking to progress to Team Manager, Contact Centre Manager and Trainer positions. Attendance on the courses is entirely voluntary.
The Programme uses a blended learning approach, with a range of training and development techniques employed. These include:
- Classroom Training
- Self Study
- Online Study
- Reading
- Working with Mentors
- Training Workshops
Programmes involve several modules, with various tasks comprising each module. Students have to meet various submission dates to complete the modules.
Managers assess students’ work for evidence that they understood both the nature of management tasks and why they needed to perform them.
“I thought the university programme would be a really good opportunity for my development within the company, but it turned out to be much more than that. The training course was invaluable, giving me a much greater understanding of company policies and procedures. I was given weekly assignments and received constructive feedback which helped me to understand the processes and daily tasks required of a Team Manager.”
