Health and Safety

"Garlands is committed to compliance with all relevant health and safety legislation and to ensuring that the company’s working environment is safe, without significant risks and meets the appropriate statutory requirements.

All levels of management and employees within the company have a vital role in the implementation and maintenance of our Health and Safety Policy.  We aim to ensure that the incidence of accidents, injuries and work-related ill health is at the lowest level practicable.

Where hazards exist we will evaluate, control and bring these to the attention of our employees.  We all have a legal duty to co-operate in all health and safety related matters, not to endanger others or ourselves and not to misuse anything provided for health, safety or welfare.  In particular, all staff must ensure that the appropriate safety rules are followed.

In addition to the responsibilities set out within this statement, individual job descriptions within the Company have specific duties assigned for the co-ordination and compliance with the health and safety legislation appropriate to our business.  All our employees will be given adequate information and training as is necessary to ensure their health and safety during routine, unscheduled and emergency situations.

We are also aware of our duties to visitors, contractors and others who may be affected by our activities.  Whilst on our premises, visitors must be signed in at reception.  They will be accounted for, escorted and protected from workplace hazards.  Contractors will be supervised and controlled.

The Company will consult with representatives of its employees through its Health and Safety Committees.  Committee members will be involved in the health and safety inspection programme and also in the development of the Company's Health and Safety Plan.

Our Policy will be reviewed annually and when otherwise appropriate and the changes will be brought to the attention of all employees.”
