In The Workplace
Garlands creates working environments that will astonish anyone with a pre-conception of colourless and claustrophobic call handling factories.
Our workspaces are well-scaled and intimate, designed to foster teamwork, encourage team building and make people feel ‘visible’. There’s plenty of natural light, subtle artificial light, abundant plants, water features, murals, sculptures, plasma screens, chill-out zones, cafes and of course Radio Ga Ga, our in-house radio station manned entirely by Garlands personnel.
At our Hartlepool Marina site, the theme is fish and mermaids – with call centre 'ships' such as HMS Fearless and HMS Illustrious manned by a maximum of only 60 people. The same creative care has been taken in designing Garlands’ Middlesbrough site. Curved walls, portholes, layered granite water obelisks, exotic plants and flowers, sculpture from Italy and furniture from Helsinki. The singular use of colours and art – as well as breathtaking views over the City skyline and nearby countryside – combine to create an atmosphere which is vibrant yet cool and calming. While at our Stockton site, the design theme is one of butterflies.
“A positive, buzzing working environment is the most fundamental aspect of a successful contact centre. You need motivated people if you are to deliver excellent service.”
